Montagu to Oudtshoorn - Day Six

Montagu Vines, Montagu, South Africa. February 2012.Woke up a little stiff after last night’s fall but ready for another day. Another boringly beautiful day, high blue, burnished skies, without a cloud. Pleasant breakfast at Montagu Vines then packed up, managed to get the blog and photos uploaded and then off. Not much to report today. Interesting drive through valleys and over mountain passes; V is, I think, ready for a change from beautiful but endless vistas of mountains. Stopped for coffee and a take-away sandwiches at a curious little rest stop called the Blue Cow in Barrydale, a rustic restaurant which advertises itself on roadside signs as being on the Barrydale waterfront. Since we are in the middle of the mountains, the waterfront was going to be interesting; it turns out to be a pond about 20 metres square with a deck built out over it, and the rest of the restaurant equally eccentric but the cheesecake and lattes were fabulous as was the quiche that we bought for a picnic lunch.

Arrived in Oodtshoorn and checked into a very pleasant guest house, La Pension which will be home for the next couple of nights.

Going for a swim and calling it a day.
